Lovatics Palette: Love it or Hate?

The drugstore palette market has exploded in the past year. Maybelline, Revlon, L’Oreal, Covergirl, and now NYC have all put out their own version of neutral shades. I’ve tried 3 of those palettes now and I must say that I haven’t been impressed with any of them. Once you have eyeshadows like Lorac and Urban Decay, you’re quality level sky rockets. It is such a task for me to actually have to work with shadows nowadays, because my high end palettes are so effortless. However, I am still a curious makeup junkie so I had to of course try this palette out too.

Lovatics Open Palette

Upon picking up this palette, I immediately noticed how metallic some of the shades in the palette appeared. This made me actually have some hope for this Lovatics Palette . This palette has 12 shades; 5 of those shades are matte, 4 of them are ultra metallic, 3 of them contain shimmer that isn’t detectable upon application. Two double ended sponge tip applicators come with this palette as well.  The packaging on this is very cheap, but it was only $6.99,  so I ain’t complaining too much.

Lovatics Back Cover

The back cover of this palette is very similar to Maybelline and L’Oreal’s Palettes. It gives you 3 different combinations to use in order to achieve a certain look, whether it be neutral or glam. I think this panel would be very useful for a makeup newbie or even a young teen looking for some makeup help. This could have definitely been my saving grace during my makeup illiterate phase of my life.

The metallic shades are my absolute favorite in this palette for sure. Some of the mattes are a little more patchy than I’d like, but they are workable. The mattes are also EXTREMELY soft and buttery. This can sometimes hurt you in the long run if you’re an avid blender like myself.  The shadows that have shimmer that isn’t detectable when swatched were very hard to use for me. They didn’t blend well at all. However, once applied, these shadows stayed on me eyes for 6 + hours with out creasing a bit. I would definitely use a primer, because it does help these shadows look a little more vibrant, but I was extremely impressed with the staying power with or without a primer.

Lovatics Swatches

Overall, I really do LOVE this palette. It has been super fun to play with and try new combinations. I love the neat way it breaks the palette down by the look you want to achieve on the back. I also really enjoy how long these shadows last on my lid. If you’re a makeup junkie, then you’ll love having this palette in your collection. This is definitely my favorite drugstore palette at the moment for sure. Hopefully other drugstore companies will step up their eyeshadow game. I’ll be picking up the the covergirl palette up next, so be sure to keep your eyes peeled on the blog.
